The highest, at 2488 metres, Colle Fourclaz in the old Savoyard part of Italy. The final stretch just before the col is next to a tiny ski station that was completely closed. Not even remnants of snow.

From the Doussard Nature Reserve, the route joins the Col de la Forclaz by a path that winds through the forest, and offers wonderful views of Lake Annecy. From the car park hikers turn left towards the hamlet of Verthier. Be careful when crossing the D909a road. We follow the road to the bridge before continuing the road to the chapel.
